LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Tried and True Tattoo Parlor is hosting an unconventional event in July to help out a friend of the shop owner who was diagnosed with stage four cancer.
Brad Mallory, owner of Tried and True, posted on Facebook on June 19, asking the community to support Gene Williams in his cancer battle.
In Gene’s honor, the shop will be tattooing cancer ribbons from July 6 through 8, with different colors representing the various forms the disease could take.
Mallory said doctors have given Gene less than a year to live.
“There will be a sign in sheet and something you can sign for Gene showing him your support,” benefit organizers wrote. “No need to call or message for an appointment, just show up.”
The price of the ribbon tattoo is a minimum donation of $30 to support Gene, who Mallory says made an impact on many people in the area.
“We all know someone who’s battled cancer, it’s an awful and hard fight,” Mallory wrote.
Event organizers said a GoFundMe has been set up to support Gene for those who don’t want to be tattooed.
