SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The summer heat will continue across the ArkLaTex on Friday and this weekend. Rain is looking unlikely as we will continue to see plenty of sunshine.
Friday temperatures: Usually, during the last half of June, daytime highs are in the lower 90s and overnight lows are in the lower 70s. We will remain above those levels on Friday and this weekend. Highs during the three days will stay near 5 degrees above normal in the middle 90s. A few spots could make it into the upper 90s. Overnight lows will likely remain in the mid to upper 70s.
Futurecast: As the center of a large area of upper-level high pressure moves close to the ArkLaTex during the next several days, Futurecast shows that it will likely prevent any hope of a cooling rain. We will likely see a partly cloudy sky on Thursday night with a few low clouds developing. Friday morning clouds will give way to plenty of sunshine on Friday. Expect a mostly clear sky on Friday night and plenty of sunshine once again on Saturday and Sunday.
Little change next week: As the center of the upper ridge continues to move east towards the east coast, we will see a small chance of rain return each day next week, starting on Monday. Don’t get too excited. The coverage of the rain will be very limited. Temperatures won’t change that much next week, with highs staying in the middle 90s and lows staying in the middle 70s.
