(KTAB/KRBC) – KTAB, KRBC, and BigCountryHomepage.com celebrated Founder’s Day of Caring in honor of their parent company Nexstar Media Group, which was founded by CEO Perry Sook in June 1996, 29 years ago.
Members of all departments from the TV stations volunteered with Abilene ISD’s Summer Meal Program, handing out lunch to children in four different locations around town: Bonham Elementary School, Alcorta Elementary School, the YMCA, and the Boys and Girls Club at Martinez Elementary.
Afterward, Nexstar team members joined the children, who were attending various camps, for a fun afternoon of games, singing, dancing, and reading!
Brand new books from author Dav Pilkey were disturbed by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature. Pilkey chose Abilene to receive 1,300 copies of his book this summer to be disturbed through the summer feeding programs. Another 1,000 books will be available in the fall, and The NCCIL plans to have a Dog Man Day in November in honor of Pilkey and his books.
