(KRON) — A longtime sushi restaurant is leaving its San Francisco location. After nearly 30 years, Sushi Zone is closing the doors of its Market Street restaurant for good next month, the restaurant announced in a social media post.
Sushi Zone, located at 1815 Market St., is leaving due to the building’s landlord not deciding to renew the restaurant’s lease, according to the post. The establishment has been in San Francisco since 1997.
The last day is scheduled for July 12, but Sushi Zone said the closure is just temporary. Sushi Zone said it is “actively looking” for a new home but did not specify where.
Sushi Zone perhaps hinted a move outside of San Francisco.
“We will see what to do next. East Bay would be a great location as well,” the restaurant wrote on Facebook.
“Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of sharing countless memories, celebrations, and meals with our amazing customers,” Sushi Zone wrote. “Your loyalty and support have meant the world to us, and we are truly grateful for the love you’ve shown.”
Sushi Zone is located next to Curry Hyuga on Market and Pearl streets. Before its final day at the Market Street space, Sushi Zone said it will be closed from June 30 to July 7.
The restaurant is open from Monday through Saturday. It is open from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and closes slightly later at 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“Stay tuned for updates, and we look forward to welcoming you back when the time is right,” the restaurant said. “Until then, please come visit us before July 12 for one last meal, one last memory, and one final thank you.”
