Round Rock man allegedly made threats on Roblox to attack Christian music festival: FBI

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The FBI arrested a Round Rock man for allegedly making threats in the video game Roblox to attack a “Christian concert or event,” according to a federal complaint affidavit.

James Wesley Burger is charged with threats communicated in interstate commerce, a federal offense. He is represented by a federal public defender, who declined KXAN’s request for a comment about the case.

According to the affidavit, a Roblox user in Nevada informed the FBI on January 23 that another user, named “Crazz3pain,” allegedly made threats to “kill Shia Muslims at their mosque” and a “desire to commit ‘martyrdom’ at a Christian event [and] that he wanted to bring humiliation to worshippers of the cross.”

After the FBI was alerted to the threat, it contacted Roblox. The company allegedly provided billing information and IP address access logs to the FBI. Agents used those documents to link Burger to the Crazz3pain account, according to the affidavit.

While serving a search warrant at Burger’s residence on February 28, FBI agents learned that one of Burger’s family members allegedly installed a keystroke logging program on his PC. The family member gave the FBI access to the records created by that program, the affiant wrote.

Those records allegedly included text written on Jan. 27 after the game was loaded. The slashes represent the user hitting enter on their keyboard, the affidavit states.

“As salaamu alaykom /I’ve come to conclude it will befall the 12 of Shawwal aa/And it will be a music festival /Attracting bounties of Christians s/In’shaa’allah we will attain martyrdom /And deal a grevious wound upon the followers of the Cross /Pray for me and enjoin yourself to martyrdom,” the affidavit states.

The 12th day of Shawwal, the tenth month on the Islamic calendar, lines up with April 10, 2025.

Burger was present at his residence during the search warrant and allegedly spoke with FBI agents, according to the affidavit. The affiant wrote that Burger allegedly admitted to “being a terrorist” and to making the threats, but also wrote that Burger claimed he shared the account with another user.

The FBI agent also wrote that Burger’s search data allegedly included “Lone wolf truck isis propaganda”, “Which month is april in islam” and “Festivals happening near me”, as well as searches for specific guns.

Burger was held in the Williamson County jail from February 28 until the affidavit was filed on May 19. He is currently in federal custody under a federal hold, according to jail records.
