Where Y’at this Weekend: Legacy Kitchen, ‘A Chorus Line,’ Abita Brewing Company

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Friday marks the first day of summer, which in New Orleans means sno-balls, swimming pools and sandals. This weekend kicks off the season with mouthwatering seasonal meals at great deals, refreshing cold beer and entertaining theater. Here are Where Y’at’s picks:

  • Start the summer this weekend with New Orleans Restaurant Week, featuring special meals and dining deals. A great spot to partake is Legacy Kitchen Craft Tavern in the Warehouse District, where they’ll be offering a $25 two-course lunch, a $36 two-course brunch and a $32 three-course dinner.
  • Next, Tulane University’s Summer Lyric Theatre presents the play ‘A Chorus Line.’ The award-winning musical profiles 13 dancers competing for a spot in a Broadway ensemble. Full of challenging choreography and humorous dialogue, ‘A Chorus Line’ is a must-see hit.
  • Friday night, the Abita Brewing Company on Tchoupitoulas Street is celebrating the longest day of the year with a party. The brewery celebrates the Summer Solstice with a live acoustic set, tasty bites and tarot card readings. There’ll also be 50% off Abita Golden!
  • Finally, get tickets for Saturday night, as the NOLA Freestyle concert brings the music and artists of the ’80s and ’90s to Southport Hall. Be ready to dance and sing along: the concert features ’80s freestyle singer Johnny O, the German pop band No Mercy and others.

Voting ends on Sunday for Where Y’at’s Best of the Big Easy Contest. Visit the Where Y’at website to vote and share your thoughts for the best that New Orleans has to offer in shopping, dining, nightlife and more. Results will be announced in the July issue of Where Y’at Magazine and online.
