SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Don’t miss your opportunity to walk the red carpet with the stars of an upcoming film shot entirely in Louisiana.
The horror film ‘The Twin’ will celebrate its release with a red-carpet premiere at the Strand Theatre in Shreveport. The Irish folklore-inspired film tells the story of a grieving father unraveling after his son’s death. Struggling to save his marriage, the character begins to see a ghostly figure that mirrors his appearance.
The film has received acclaim, having been recognized as a top 20 finalist at the 2016 Louisiana Film Prize. It premiered at the 2024 Austin Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Dark Matters Feature. Additionally, the script was awarded Best Screenplay at the 2021 Screamfest Horror Film Festival.
The screenplay was co-written by writer/director J.C. Doler and Paul Peterson. “After such a long journey, I’m incredibly proud to finally share The Twin with horror audiences everywhere,” said Doler. “It’s a story about the things we try to bury that somehow find a way to resurface.”
Aside from being shot in Louisiana, the film included a team of local and regional filmmakers. ‘The Twin’ stars Logan Donovan (Colony, Magnum P.I.), Robert Longstreet (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House), and Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire, The Penguin).
The red-carpet premiere will take place on Thursday, July 10, at the Strand Theatre. The event will feature appearances from the cast and crew, followed by a post-screen Q&A session. Guests are encouraged to wear red carpet attire.
Tickets cost $30 to attend. If you would like to purchase one, visit thestrandtheatre.com.
