WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A lingering shower or thunderstorm possible in the evening otherwise turning partly cloudy, and warm with more moderate humidity. Low: 65.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for central Cook County and southeastern DuPage county until 8:45 p.m.
Gradually improving conditions ahead
Thursday opens with extensive cloud coverage and some lingering rain showers as the slow-moving area of low pressure continues to move toward the northeast and away from the Chicago area after bringing many parts of the area some much needed rainfall.
Expect conditions to improve noticeably by/during the afternoon with increased sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures in the lower 80s.
Northwest winds of 10-15 mph should negate any lake cooling and push the warmth up to area beaches. There is a chance a localized breeze could develop late in the day towards evening, briefly cooling shoreline locations, but the bulk of the day looks to be seasonably warm.
