(KRON) — A 24-year-old Santa Rosa woman who was slain in a June murder-suicide was identified by law enforcement officials Wednesday.
The murder-suicide victim was identified by the Santa Rosa Police Department as Emily Hemming. Her boyfriend, Vicente Carrillo-Cedillo, is the suspected killer, SRPD said.
“Detectives believe Carrillo-Cedillo died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting Hemming multiple times with an assault rifle,” the Santa Rosa Police Department wrote. The couple was found deceased on June 11 inside their apartment on Atlanta Court in Santa Rosa after neighbors heard gunshots and called police.
Detectives said Hemming and 24-year-old Carrillo-Cedillo were in a dating relationship, neither had children, and they were living together at the apartment. The couple had moved from Southern California to Santa Rosa in 2022.
“There were no previous documented reports of domestic violence involving either person in Santa Rosa or Southern California,” SRPD wrote.
On June 11 around 2:20 p.m., neighbors heard gunshots coming from the couple’s home. When police officers arrived at the apartment at 2:40 p.m., no one inside answered.
Members of the SRPD Hostage Negotiations team made numerous attempts to establish communications while officers evacuated nearby residents.
At 4:30 p.m., a SRPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team entered and found Hemming and Carrillo-Cedillo deceased from gunshot wounds in the bedroom. Hemming had been shot several times, police said.
Officers found multiple guns that were registered to the boyfriend, including an assault rifle that was used in the murder-suicide, SRPD said.
The incident was the second murder-suicide case in Santa Rosa in 2025, according to SRPD.
Four family members were found deceased inside a Santa Rosa home on Monarch Court in January, investigators said. The family members died from gunshot wounds. They were identified by investigators as Clive Guth, 67, Donna Guth, 67, Raena Guth, 33, and Cameron Guth, 28. Donna and Clive were formerly married. Their biological children, Raena and Cameron, reportedly lived in the Monarch Court home with their mother. Officers found a handgun next to Clive Guth’s body, and he is suspected of carrying out the shooting, the Press Democrat reported.
The Santa Rosa Police Department said it is committed to supporting survivors of domestic violence and connecting them with resources to find safety and healing.
