BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A multi-agency investigation into child pornography led to the arrest of an Ascension Parish man and seizure of guns and drugs.
Santiago Mateo-Sanchez, 20, of Prairieville, was charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography under the age of 13, three counts of distribution of child pornography, distribution and possession with the intent to distribute psilocybin (mushrooms), distribution and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and two counts of illegal carrying of weapons.
Detectives received a tip on April 9 involving allegations of pornography involving juveniles, which came from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
As the investigation unfolded, “detectives learned that Sanchez sent multiple images of a sexual nature involving juveniles,” according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said three of those images showed the sexual assault of juveniles under the age of 13.
Sanchez was found at his home, and APSO executed a search and arrest warrant.
APSO said the Prairieville man admitted to sending the images online. They said guns and drugs were also found at the home.
After his arrest, Sanchez was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. His bond was set at
$300,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Office of the Louisiana Attorney General worked with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce in this investigation.
