BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are investigating after two people were shot on Tuesday.
BRPD responded to a call after 2 p.m. about a shooting near the Triple S Food Mart on N. Foster Drive.
According to emergency responders, two people were shot and taken to a nearby hospital. One is in stable condition, and the other victim sustained minor injuries.
Officers believe a detective, conducting surveillance for an investigation, was struck by bullet fragments in the leg.
Louisiana State Police is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
The FBI is handling the case, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) was involved.
“The FBI is responding to the shooting that took place on North Foster Drive involving a federal agent during a law enforcement operation. This is an active and ongoing investigation. We are working with all of our partners, and we cannot comment further at this time,” shared the FBI.
