SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A two-year-old child has died after going missing in Summit County.
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, they received a report of a missing 2-year-old boy in the Manorlands area around 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning, around 50 miles east of Kamas. Around an hour later, a civilan in the area found the child unresponsive in a drainage channel near Highway 150.
The child was taken to a hospital in Wyoming by ground ambulance and later transferred to a Salt Lake area hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
Summit County says preliminary information shows the boy had been with family, staying in a fifth-wheel camper trailer near a cabin the Manorlands area. The child was found around one mile downstream from the family’s campsite.
An investigation into the circumstances regarding the child’s death is ongoing, but officials say the incident appears to be a tragic accident.
