Reopen dates for bridges under construction in Terrebonne Parish

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced an update on the work being done to bridges across Terrebonne Parish.

Currently, four bridges are closed due to officials deeming them unsafe for public use. Public work crews are actively doing repairs with some being more complex.

The damage may be the result of either barge strikes or structural concerns due to the structures’ ages.

“DOTD recognizes the importance of bridge access and the inconvenience that closures can cause; however, the safety of drivers remains the top priority, and all federal guidelines must be followed,” said DOTD officials.

The following bridges are currently closed for repairs.

• Boudreaux Canal Bridge/LA 56 (Opened 1959): Recently closed after an inspection determined it to be structurally deficient. Upon completion of internal repairs, officials expect to reopen the bridge by the end of August.
  • Plans are underway for a new $30 million replacement bridge.
• Daigleville Bridge/LA 24 to LA 659 (Opened in 2006): Closed in February due to electrical deficiencies. Currently under a $1.4 million construction contract with Coastal Contractors, LLC.
  • 31% completed but expected to be reopened by October 2025.
• Bayou Blue Pontoon Bridge/LA 316 and Romero St. (1972): Closed after a barge collision on Thanksgiving Day 2024. Currently under a $600,000 contracts with Reliant Industrial Solutions, LLC.
  • 25% complete and expected to reopen end of August.
• Company Canal Bridge/LA 24 at LA 316 (Opening in 2025): Originally built in 1951. Currently being replaced as part of a $30.4 million project with James Construction Group, LLC.
  • New bridge expected to open by end of June.
