6 taken to hospitals after ambulance rear-ends CTA bus, officials say

CHICAGO (WGN) — Six passengers on a Chicago Transit Authority bus were transported to three area hospitals on Tuesday morning after the bus was rear-ended by a private ambulance, police said.

Both vehicles were southbound on the 1100 block of South Michigan Avenue, near East Roosevelt Road, when they collided at about 10:15 a.m., according to preliminary information from authorities.

Police said six people on the bus were treated for minor injuries and were listed in good condition. They include two men, aged 23 and 25, and a 23-year-old female who were taken to Rush University Medical Center. Two other men, aged 32 and 73, were moved to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and two others whose ages were not immediately known were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Medical Express Ambulance Service vehicle was issued two citations, police said.
