HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 21-year-old who allegedly was planning on meeting with a 13-year-old girl in Hanford was arrested, Hanford Police said Monday.
The man who was arrested was 21-year-old Manuel Coronado of Fresno. Police allege that he believed he was meeting up with a teenager.
At around 4:25 p.m., officers with the Hanford Police were notified by a civilian group known for conducting independent operations to expose people who are attempting to exploit minors. The group had arranged a meeting with Coronado and contacted law enforcement once he arrived at the location.
Officers responded to the scene and contacted him. Police said that through the interviews and preliminary investigation, they discovered that he believed that he was meeting with a 13-year-old. During questioning, police said Gonzalez admitted he was aware the individual was a minor and that he had brought sexual protection in anticipation of the encounter.
Gonzalez was taken into custody without incident and subsequently booked into Kings County Jail.
