(KRON) – A San Francisco coffee shop that has been around since 2009 will officially be brewing in the East Bay next year. Sightglass Coffee is coming to Berkeley in 2026.
The company’s CEO, Sharon Healy, told KRON4.com that Berkeley was a “natural next step” for Sightglass.
“Berkeley’s vibrant community, intellectual energy, and strong appreciation for quality align beautifully with our mission,” said Healy.
UC Berkeley students will appreciate the location of the java shop. The cafe will be located on the corner of University and Oxford streets on the ground floor of UC Berkeley’s Anchor House, which is a new campus community-oriented space.
“We hope to be a daily ritual for students, faculty, and neighbors alike, offering comfort, connection, and exceptional coffee in equal measure,” said Healy.
According to Sightglass, the cafe’s classic latte, cappuccino and the vanilla paste latte are among patrons’ favorites. For Sightglass’ whole bean coffees, their Blueboon Blend and Owl’s Howl are the top performers. The Blueboon Blend serves as the cafe’s classic cold brew beans, and the Owl’s Howl is known for its bright and fruity notes.
Last year, a study showed Sightglass was the most popular indie cafe.
Sightglass has three locations and roasteries in SF and one in Los Angeles.
An official date has not been set for the Berkeley location. However, Healy said the cafe is slated to begin serving cups of joe in early 2026.
