ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Texas Veterans Land Board is extending an invitation to the community to attend the unaccompanied burial of U.S. Army Veteran Specialist 4 (SP4) Jimmy Aaron Batie at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, ensuring no Veteran is laid to rest alone.
Born on January 1, 1942, SP4 Batie served in the Army from May 1967 to April 1969. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal, recognizing his dedication and honorable conduct.
As SP4 Batie has no known next of kin, the Texas Veterans Land Board is encouraging the public to honor his memory by attending the ceremony. He will be laid to rest with full military honors.
The burial service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, located at 7457 West Lake Road in Abilene.
