An area of low pressure well south of Chicago will move slowly northward into southern Illinois by late Friday evening. This will result in some mainly light showers or even some spotty sprinkles. Currently, areas south of Chicago are likely to have the best chance of seeing some rainfall, but amounts are likely to be on the lighter side.

Friday temperatures

Highs are likely to reach the low 80s for inland locations, but a southeast breeze off the lake will keep it noticeably cooler near Lake Michigan where highs will range from the middle 60s to near 70-degrees.
