DALEVILLE, Ind. — A Daleville man has been arrested on felony charges after two young girls accused him of molesting them, forcing them to wear thongs and using sex toys on them.

Cory D. Butterfield, 54, turned himself in to the Delaware County Jail this week after being preliminarily charged with two counts of child molestation – a level 3 felony.

The charges stem from accusations made by two girls under the age of 14 in a note written to their mother.

Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies were called on May 29 to take a child molestation report involving two victims.

Investigators spoke with the victims’ mother, who said one of her daughters had written a note accusing Cory Butterfield of molesting her. Court documents state the child was too embarrassed to verbalize the accusations.

The next day, in collaboration with Child Protective Services, police interviewed the two victims. One of the girls said that, when she was 8 years old, Butterfield made her wear a “thong” and rubbed sex toys on her body.

The victim said Butterfield would also watch porn in front of her and “watch her use the bathroom on a regular basis.” She went on to say that she would put barricades on the bathroom door to stop Butterfield from getting in.

At times, the victim said she and her sister would have to flee to a barn in the backyard to escape Butterfield’s actions. The second victim later verified this.

During her interview, the second victim said Butterfield also molested her in a similar way. She said she refused to put on a thong for him, but that this did not stop him from bringing out sex toys and trying to use them on her.

Police attempted to speak with Butterfield at his Daleville home on June 5, but received no answer at the door. Investigators later learned that DCSO patrol deputies sent a “temporary emergency PO” to Butterfield’s house, alerting him of the child molestation investigation.

Deputies were later contacted by Gibson Law Office, which stated that Butterfield had retained them as counsel. Police called the office on Wednesday and said they plan on arresting Butterfield, but that they wanted to give him a chance to turn himself in.

Court documents show Butterfield turned himself in to the Delaware County Jail around 3 p.m. Thursday. His bond was set at $100,000, and jail documents show he was released around 5 p.m.

Online court records have not yet been updated to reflect official charges or an initial hearing date in Butterfield’s case. Butterfield does not appear to have any criminal record in the state of Indiana.
