Christian Moore’s chance of making big leagues continues with Bees

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Salt Lake Bees continue their road series in Las Vegas with another game tonight, and that gives prospect Christian Moore another chance to get better and get closer to moving up to the big leagues.

Christian Moore is the top prospect in the Angels organization and was quickly moved up from Double-A ball to the Triple-A affiliate, the Bees, which was a bit of a surprise.

“You never know when that day is going to come. You just kind of just keep working. But it was awesome. They put me in office and told me, and it was a great time and I’m super blessed to be here,” he said.

Moore has fit in well with his new team, and likes being in Salt Lake.

“It’s been awesome. These guys have really welcomed me in. It’s been really fun working with these guys and working with these coaches. I try to play hard and try to be a good teammate. So hopefully, I’m rubbing off on them,” he said.

Keith Johnson, the Bees manager, remarked: “He’s one of the top prospects in the game. First full season of pro ball, making it to the AA level, there’s going to be some growing pains, but he’s handling everything great. He’s coming to the ballpark every day with an open mind, looking to learn, looking to get better.”

Moore may not be a Bee very long. He could get called up at any time. But he still has some work to do.

“Obviously, just being consistent with everything. I think that’s what the minor league is for us, building consistency. So I think that was kind of the big thing,” Moore said.

“Talent like that doesn’t just grow on trees, you know? I mean, he has a work ethic to go along with it. We’re just try to trying to work on that just as much as we’re working on everything else, because you get a good player with a good work ethic, now you’ve got a superstar,” Johnson said.

Moore’s journey to SLC has been a quick one, and it included a stop in Madison, Alabama, where he played for a team called the Trash Pandas, one he never expected to play for.

“I always knew minor league teams ahave funny names, but definitely not the Trash Pandas. I think it was awesome thouse. All those guys, those that fan base and that stadium and those people are awesome. They really take care of you over there, so it was fun playing for them,” he said.
