The first crime happened around 5:20 in the morning on June 5 at the Olive Branch Cafe in the 5100 block of General De Gaulle Drive. The NOPD released security camera footage that shows a man kick an opening in the front door and enter.
According to workers, the thief tried to steal money from the cash register but couldn’t, so he left with only a soft drink while causing hundreds of dollars in damage.
The second crime, also on June 5, happened around 5:00 that evening at a business in the 3500 block of the same street, about a mile and a half away. In that case, police say 35-year-old Denzil Bush entered the business without authorization and stole property.
Police said the cases are not connected.
