NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to close two crimes that happened on the same day and on the same street in Algiers. The cases are the latest ones to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

The first crime happened around 5:20 in the morning on June 5 at the Olive Branch Cafe in the 5100 block of General De Gaulle Drive. The NOPD released security camera footage that shows a man kick an opening in the front door and enter.

According to workers, the thief tried to steal money from the cash register but couldn’t, so he left with only a soft drink while causing hundreds of dollars in damage.

The second crime, also on June 5, happened around 5:00 that evening at a business in the 3500 block of the same street, about a mile and a half away. In that case, police say 35-year-old Denzil Bush entered the business without authorization and stole property.

Police said the cases are not connected.
