Second in-custody death reported at Jefferson Parish jail
JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the second in-custody death to happen this month.
According to deputies, around 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, a male inmate was transported from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center to a hospital after experiencing a medical emergency.
The inmate was later pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m.
A similar incident was reported days prior, when an inmate, also suffering a medical emergency, was taken to a hospital on June 4 and was pronounced dead on June 5.
