Jefferson Parish deputies investigating in-custody death

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of an inmate on Sunday, April 20.

The JPSO reported an unresponsive adult male inmate was found in a housing unit around 7 a.m.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the JPSO, the death is currently being investigated as “an in-custody suicide.”

Additional information was not provided, and JPSO officials said the investigation is ongoing.
