Mississippi National Guard deploys to D.C. for Army celebration

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi National Guard (MSNG) deployed 280 service members to Washington, D.C., to support the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Park Police during the Army’s 250th birthday festivities on June 14.

The soldiers and airmen left from Thompson Field Air National Guard Base in Flowood on June 12.

According to officials, the MSNG service members will assist with security details near the U.S. Capitol Building.
