FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that took place early Thursday morning.
According to police, around 3 a.m., officers responded to a gunshot detection alert in the 1200 block of S. Oak Avenue. Authorities said evidence of a shooting was collected at the scene.
Police said they were able to determine that the suspect was a male, approximately 6 feet tall, and wearing a hooded sweatshirt.
After the shots were fired, the suspect then walked west toward the intersection of Empire Street and Oak Avenue.
Police are asking the public to report any information related to the crime by calling 815-235-8222.
