Henderson police arrest man for allegedly stealing car; claimed owner let him drive

HENDERSON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Patrolling officers in Henderson reportedly found a car registered as stolen in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The department posted on Facebook that just before 2 a.m. on Thursday, officers were patrolling the area of Green Street and Second Street when they carried out a license plate check on a 2014 Hyundai that was driving by.

The check reportedly showed that on Wednesday, June 11, the car was entered in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a stolen vehicle.

Freddie Nash, 59, who was driving the car, was pulled over and arrested. Court documents show he told officers the car’s owner let him drive it.

An arrest report shows that the car’s owner told authorities that Nash allegedly took the car and never brought it back, leading to it being reported stolen on Wednesday.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

He was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center. He is due in court at 10 a.m. on June 17.
