New Orleans university hits the top of Billboard charts

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Music Business Program at Loyola University of New Orleans has hit the top of the charts.

In music, the top is Billboard Magazine.

Billboard says Loyola is one of America’s top colleges for students to study music business.

WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood is singing their song.

Billboard puts out a yearly list of Top Music Business schools, and, for Loyola, this is the third year for the honor.

“It’s a badge of honor to be named to the top music schools in Billboard Magazine because people see that and want to come to the school,” said Jonathan McHugh.

Billboard says Loyola’s location in New Orleans and the city’s music scene as a backdrop make it the place to study music business.

“It’s the best way for me to express myself and for me to tell other people who I am and what’s my story,” said Loyola junior, Liam Escame.

Loyola sponsors one of the biggest stages at French Quarter Fest.

And right there, Loyola students work as interns on 25 stages.

It’s music at school and in real life.
