Firefighter injured on 42nd Street, Louisville Fire Arson Bureau investigating

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Louisville Fire Department (LFD) said a firefighter was injured while responding to a residential fire on Thursday.

According to the department, firefighters were dispatched at 2:48 a.m. after reports of smoke coming from a home in the 300 block of South 42nd Street. Reportedly, the fire was at a 1½-story home and was threatening neighboring structures on both sides.

On Facebook, the department said crews started the attack and searched for occupants before requesting another truck and more manpower.

“Roughly 35 firefighters worked efficiently to bring the fire under control within 17 minutes. All searches of the primary structure and adjacent exposures confirmed that no occupants were inside,” the department said.

One firefighter reportedly had minor, non-life-threatening injuries during the mission and was treated at the scene.

The LFD said the firefighter has been released from the hospital.

The Louisville Fire Arson Bureau is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
