SALT LAKE CITY (
ABC4) — Eleven new hymns have been added to the new hymnbook for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, “Hymns — For Home and Church.”
The new additions bring the total number of songs added to the new hymnbook to 48, according to the Church. Among the list of new hymns is “His Voice as the Sound,” a hymn that is regularly performed by the Tabernacle Choir, including during the general conference in October 2018.
A full list of the 11 newly added hymns can be found below:
- “Look unto Christ”
- “Oh, How Great Is Our Joy”
- “I’m a Pioneer Too”
- “As I Keep the Sabbath Day”
- “Read the Book of Mormon and Pray”
- “I’m Gonna Live So God Can Use Me”
- “The Lord’s My Shepherd”
- “Because”
- “His Voice as the Sound”
- “O Lord, Who Gave Thy Life for Me”
- “Still, Still, Still”
Songs have been slowly added to the hymnbook in waves since the first batch was introduced in April 2024. The Church said the new hymnbook, which is available in several different languages, aims to connect with church members across the globe.
Elder Dale Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said the Church hopes its members take advantage of the opportunity that has been provided to enjoy the new hymns.
“It’s our hope that everyone will realize that this is a new day. That this is a wonderful day where there’s a refreshing of this hymnal that we have, and we’re hopeful that everyone thoroughly enjoys these new hymns and actually develops new favorites that, in years to come, become their old favorites,” said Renlund.
The new songs will be made available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. They will also be made available on the Church’s online music library, the Gospel Library and the Sacred Music app.
