Following an extensive investigation, the Sweetwater Police Department arrested wanted fugitive Salvador Hernandez on June 7. According to police, Hernandez had fled from law enforcement and prompted a standoff after barricading himself in the residence. After attempts to negotiate a peaceful surrender, police acquired a warrant to enter the property and place him in custody without incident.
He was brought into custody on a parole violation warrant for Possession with the Intent to Deliver Heroin. He also faces new charges of Manufacturing/Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
“We are extremely proud of the officers of the Sweetwater Police Department for their commitment to locating and apprehending individuals who prey on our community and threaten the safety of our residents,” said Interim Chief Cory Stroman. “Our department remains committed to proactively reducing crime and ensuring Sweetwater stays a vibrant and secure community for all.”
