Santa Rosa police responded at 8:12 a.m. to the intersection of Sebastopol Road and Laurel Grove Circle on the report of a vehicle collision involving a bicyclist. Arriving officers and paramedics found the bicyclist on the ground and the driver of a gold Ford pickup truck at the scene.
The bicyclist, identified by authorities as a 55-year-old Santa Rosa woman, was rushed to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries, SRPD said.
The Ford’s driver, a 59-year-old man from Cloverdale, told officers that the bicyclist was in a Sebastopol Road crosswalk when they were struck, according to police. The Ford was traveling westbound while the bicyclist was crossing the roadway north to south.
“The driver did not display any symptoms of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” SRPD said. Speed was also not apparent as a factor, according to investigators.
Westbound lanes of Sebastopol Road were reopened following a nearly three-hour-long closure.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Officer J. Meteyer at jmeteyer@srcity.org.
