Fire in Santa Clara County burns 18 acres, 50 percent contained

(KRON) — A fire broke out in Santa Clara County on Monday afternoon, according to Cal Fire. The fire is located west of San Antonio Valley Road and Upper San Antonio Valley Road of Mt. Hamilton.

As of 7:45 p.m., the fire is listed to be at 18.33 acres and is 50% contained, officials said.

No injuries or evacuations were reported due to the fire. Dubbed the Antonio Fire, the blaze appears to have broken out in a rural part of the county, away from residential neighborhoods.

The Antonio Fire is located about 30 miles east of San Jose near Highway 130 on Santonio Valley Road.

Cal Fire said the Antonio Fire started at 4:13 p.m. when it was listed at two acres. About an hour later, the fire grew to 14 acres, and forward progress was stopped.
