Person found dead in burning Linton residence; Homicide investigation underway

LINTON, Ind. — A person was found dead in a burning residence in Linton early Sunday morning.

In a Facebook post, the Linton Police Department confirmed that its officers responded to a residence on D Street Southeast around 12:20 a.m. When law enforcement and fire department crews arrived at the scene, they located a deceased male inside a burning residence.

The Linton Fire Department quickly suppressed the blaze, and LPD then established the area as a crime scene. LPD contacted Indiana State Police for assistance in investigating the incident as a homicide.

LPD confirmed that its officers apprehended a potential suspect at a gas station during their investigation of the incident.

LPD indicated that it does not believe the incident poses any ongoing threat to the area. Law enforcement is encouraging those with information on the incident to contact the following agencies:
