Multiple shell casings found at shooting scene in Cheneyville

CHENEYVILLE, La. (WNTZ) — Five people were wounded and four vehicles struck by gunfire during a shooting that occurred near Cheneyville Town Hall at approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.

No fatalities have been reported. All five victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Their names and conditions have not been released.

Deputies and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and recovered multiple shell casings from a variety of calibers, suggesting that multiple firearms may have been used.

Investigators have canvassed the area in search of witnesses and surveillance video. As of Sunday morning, no witnesses have come forward, and no video evidence has been submitted.

“This remains a very active and ongoing investigation,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
