It happened just before 10 a.m. on Sunday, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police (KSP).
An initial investigation showed that Justin Baron, 26, of Loretto, was driving west on US-68 in a 2002 Dodge Ram and allegedly tried to make a right turn at high speed through the intersection of the highway and the Lebanon Bypass.
State police said Baron allegedly lost control and went across the intersection, hitting a 2010 GMC Sierra driven by William Norris, 55, of Loretto.
Norris was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County coroner. Shirley Norris, 82, of Lebanon, was taken to the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said Baron was taken to Spring View Hospital, where he was released after being treated for minor injuries.
