Girl, 16, shot inside Near West Side apartment, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WGN) —  A 16-year-old girl is hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound inside an apartment on Chicago’s Near West Side, police said Friday.

Details remain limited, but according to Chicago police, the shooting incident occurred at around 1:20 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of S. Ashland Ave.

The 16-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the left arm, police added. She arrived at nearby Stroger Hospital in good condition.

No one is in custody.

CPD said Area Three Detectives are investigating the incident.
