RICHMOND, Ind. — The Richmond Police Department arrested a man on a preliminary charge of dealing in a controlled substances resulting in death on Wednesday.

In a Facebook post,

RPD identified the arrestee as 47-year-old Kenosis J. Sewell. The preliminary charge he faces is a Level 1 Felony.

Police reported that Sewell was lodged at the Wayne County Jail after his arrest. RPD indicated that Sewell’s arrest was the result of an investigation police and the Wayne County Prosecutor’s and Coroner’s Offices conducted. The investigation was launched after officials flagged a person’s death as “suspicious.”

“These cases are deeply personal,” RPD Chief Kyle Weatherly wrote in a prepared statement. “Every name in an investigation like this represents someone who mattered to their family, their friends, and this community. I’m proud of the tireless work by our detectives and the continued collaboration with the prosecutor’s and coroner’s offices. Together, we are committed to bringing justice to victims, and a measure of peace to the loved ones left behind.”

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on Sewell’s arrest had been made available.
