The shooting occurred at the OYO Hotel in the 3800 block of Interstate 55 South on Wednesday, June 4.
Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said a 30-year-old man had been hanging around the hotel property all day and had been asked by the manager to leave.
Instead of leaving, Brown said the man went into a hotel room where the manager’s daughter was. The manager went to the room and asked the man to leave again. During an argument between the two, Brown said the manager shot the man.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Brown said the suspect was taken into custody.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact JPD at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
