Teenager in custody after crashing into 56-year-old man on scooter in Little Village

CHICAGO — A teenager is in custody after crashing into a man driving a scooter in the Little Village neighborhood.

The crash happened just after 9 p.m. Tuesday on the 2600 block of South Lawndale.

According to police, a 56-year-old man was traveling eastbound on a scooter when a 17-year-old boy driving a white sedan turned northbound at the intersection and struck the victim.

The man sustained trauma to the body and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition.

Police said officers placed the teen into custody and citations will be issued.
