Upon arrival, the SFD reportedly observed smoke coming from the front of a one-story commercial building. Once inside, firefighters found a machine on fire in the back of the warehouse.
“Thanks to the quick actions of one employee, who used a fire extinguisher prior to the fire department’s arrival, the fire remained confined to one machine inside the warehouse and allowed firefighters to fully extinguish the flames using a second extinguisher. The official cause of the fire remains under investigation by the SFD Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB),” a press release stated.
All 38 employees of the business evacuated safely with no reported injuries. Free extinguisher training is offered by the SFDFPB to local businesses. To learn more or request training, call 318-673-6740 or go to shreveportfire.org.
