All modes of severe weather possible across the Big Country tonight

BIG COUNTRY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Residents across the Big Country should stay weather-aware tonight as severe thunderstorms are expected to roll through the area.

Most of our region is currently under an Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather, meaning multiple storms could become intense or widespread.

What does this mean for us?

In simple terms, we could see all types of severe weather tonight. This includes:

  • Heavy rainfall
  • Strong, potentially damaging winds
  • Large hail
  • The possibility of an isolated tornado

Stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

What does the timeline of these storms look like?

Tonight’s Timeline:

  • Tuesday 6:00 p.m.
    Scattered storms may begin to develop, with the most significant risk of stronger storms expected in our northern counties.
  • Tuesday 8:30 p.m.
    Scattered storms continue through our northern counties.
  • Tuesday 10:30 p.m.
    The main line of storms has formed east of Abilene along the I-20 corridor.
  • Wednesday 3:00 a.m.
    Strong storms exit the southeastern counties of the Big Country.

As of 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Knox County; however, additional watches may be added in the coming hours.
