LAFAYETTE, La. (
KLFY) — Three years ago, an Acadiana couple found out their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter had juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Joshua and Joelle LeBreton were initially told their daughter would be living with the disease for years, or maybe even forever, but now, she’s in remission without medication.
Symptoms started out as a subtle limp, which quickly turned into a baseball-sized swollen knee and inability to walk. The two-year-old underwent many tests and doctor visits until finally, six months later, she was diagnosed.
Treatment began with medication; however, Joshua knew from his personal health journey that lifestyle and nutrition changes could work. He thought, “Why not try this with my daughter?”
With continued research and doctor approval, Joshua and Joelle were able to wean their daughter off medication and implement certain lifestyle and diet changes for anti-inflammatory benefits. She’s now been symptom-free and medication-free for almost a year.
While sharing his family’s success with others, Joshua realized it’s hard to find this information all in one place. So, he compiled years of research into a short book for those wanting to take control of their health.
