The award is presented annually to an individual “who has demonstrated exemplary determination, creativity, and results in building support for national service among our nation’s leaders.”
“It is an honor to be recognized for my work on behalf of AmeriCorps and state commissions,” said Jeansonne. “Recent cuts and grant terminations have created unprecedented challenges, but I am proud of our work in Louisiana to build bipartisan support at all levels of government. AmeriCorps programs have an outsized impact in Louisiana, with members providing critical services to tens of thousands of Louisianans each year. I will continue to advocate for these programs and the power of national service to strengthen communities throughout Louisiana and across the country.”
Jeansonne received the award at the Friends of National Service Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on April 30.
“The willingness of people in Louisiana to pitch in and help their neighbors during times of crisis is one our most important assets as a state,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “It truly says a lot about the Louisiana spirit. Through his expertise and commitment to service. Judd embodies this spirit as the executive director of Volunteer Louisiana.”
