Boil water advisory issued for Haughton after mower accident

HAUGHTON, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A boil water advisory has been issued for residents in Haughton by the Bossier Parish Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1 (CWSD #1).

“Earlier this evening, a flush hydrant was accidentally damaged along Chandler Road by a bush hog cutting grass, affecting the water line between the 200 and 900 blocks, including Roach and Crawford Roads,” a press release stated. “Crews responded quickly to make repairs, but the temporary loss of water pressure prompted officials to issue a precautionary boil advisory.”

  • Who is affected: Residents on the Village Water System in Haughton.
  • Why: A water line repair caused a temporary service interruption, which may allow contaminants to enter the system.
  • What to do: Boil all water for consumption until further notice.

Boil Water Instructions:

  • Bring tap water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute.
  • Boil water even if it has been filtered.
  • Use boiled or bottled water for:
    • Drinking
    • Cooking
    • Brushing teeth
    • Preparing food

“Water samples will be collected and sent to the Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Public Health in Shreveport for testing,” the release stated. “The advisory will remain in effect until test results confirm the water is safe to drink.”
