LinkedIn cuts hundreds of jobs in Bay Area and across the state

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — LinkedIn, the go-to social network for laid off tech workers, has now added to the growing number of people seeking jobs. The Microsoft-owned job platform is laying off 281 employees statewide, according to a WARN notice filed this week.

The job cuts impact 60 people at LinkedIn’s San Francisco office at 222 Second Street. About a dozen people at LinkedIn’s Carpinteria office also lost their jobs, along with about 50 people at the company’s Sunnyvale office.

The greatest number of job cuts, however, were at LinkedIn’s Mountain View office, where 159 people lost their jobs. The job cuts, which were announced Tuesday, took effect back on May 15.

The LinkedIn layoffs follow job cuts earlier this month at the job-seeking platform’s parent company, Microsoft. Earlier this month, Microsoft laid off 86 employees across several Bay Area offices.
