Friday’s heat advisory is due to go into effect at 10 a.m. and last through 8 p.m. for interior portions of the North By, East Bay, South Bay, Santa Cruz mountains, and the Central Coast.
Gusty onshore winds may bring some relief to coastal area, but not inland, according to the NWS.
“These levels of heat will impact most individuals, especially those sensitive to heat,” the NWS said. “Individuals may become prone to heat ailments without adequate cooling and/or effective hydration.”
Friday’s heat is expected to bring increased fire risk, especially in higher elevations where conditions are dry and humidity low.
“Dry and windy conditions will pose an elevated fire weather threat through Saturday,” said the NWS. “Ensure that you are always exercising fire weather safety, especially over this time period.”
