PAYSON, Utah (ABC4) — Officials with the Utah Highway Patrol confirmed that two people died in a crash that led to an hours-long closure of I-15 on Tuesday.
Cpl. Heywood with UHP told ABC4.com that two people were killed in the crash. Heywood said the crash was between two vehicles, and the drivers of both vehicles died in the crash.
The crash was first reported around 4:45 p.m. on May 27, according to UDOT. As of about 10 p.m. on May 27, the southbound lanes of I-15 had reopened.

PAYSON, Utah (ABC4) — Southbound I-15 is closed in Payson after a deadly accident, and it is expected to be closed for several hours.
According to Cpl. Heywood with the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash occurred near mile marker 251 on I-15. Heywood confirmed that the crash was fatal, but the number of victims was not yet clear.
“Use an alternate route. Expect heavy delays in the area,” the Utah Department of Transportation said in a traffic alert.
Heywood told ABC4.com that traffic is being diverted to exit 253, and all southbound lanes will be closed for at least an hour. It is unclear when the road is expected to reopen.
