Officials with UHP said a Tesla was reportedly driving recklessly in the northbound lanes of I-15 on Wednesday. It was later reported that the car was traveling in the wrong direction, driving north in the southbound lanes.
According to officials, the Tesla side-swiped a semi-truck before crashing into an SUV head-on near mile marker 177. Three people were taken to the hospital in varying conditions, including the driver of the Tesla and two people from the SUV.
On Wednesday night, the southbound lanes were closed, and traffic was being diverted off at exit 178. Officials estimated the closures would be in effect for several hours.
