FPD said it was alerted on Monday at 1:33 p.m. about a person lighting “multiple fires” in the area of Airbase Parkway and North Texas Street — before receiving word that the suspect had moved on to sparking fires in backyards.
Fairfield police said they located the 39-year-old female suspect on Dover Avenue right as she began a blaze along the rear fence of a home in the 600 block of Durham Court. The smoldering fire was extinguished by a police officer while the woman was being taken into custody, police said.
“The firestarter was subsequently transported to County Jail, where her access to matches and other fire making materials will be severely limited,” said Fairfield police in a news release.
Investigators believe the woman is responsible so far for starting six fires.
